    Item Description
    This offering is a hand forged coopers chamfering knife manufactured by D. R. Barton who operated a tool manufacturing company in New York from 1849 to 1874.  The mark on it is "D. R. Barton" in a straight line with block letters and "Rochester" immediately below it , also in a straight line with block letters.  Be aware that the piece is about 15-1/4 inch long and weigh almost 3 pounds.  The piece is interesting as it shows the fold lines where the knife portion was forged.
