    Description

    Up for bid is a Rare 1864 Dated Civil War Union Naval Watertight Fuse---that was used in large naval artillery shells to ensure that the water was kept out of the shell. This fuse is dated 1864 and also has two R marks on the lip of the fuse---This is believed to be the mark that was made with the fuse was removed and reloaded into another shell. This marking is desirable and not commonly found. this fuse was likely used is three different shells! This piece was found on private property with the permission of the land owner.
